If Knowshon Moreno, sneezes these days that might qualify as news.
So how does it grab you that Moreno is among the candidates to return punts this season for Georgia?
Coach Mark Richt said Thursday after Georgia’s kicking scrimmage that the star sophomore tailback is a bonafide candidate.
The question, of course, is this: Is the reward of the explosive Moreno returning punts worth the risk of putting perhaps the most valuable member of the team on the field for even more plays and risking injury?
“I think he could be pretty good at it,” Richt said. “I’m not sure if we’ll pull the trigger or not.”
Arkansas running back Felix Jones was one of the nation’s top kickoff returners last year, but the Razorbacks had a guy named Darren McFadden also.
Then again, Heisman Trophy winner Reggue Bush had 559 yards and three TDs on 44 career punt returns at Southern California.
“Knowshon will do anything we ask him to do,” Richt said. “We’re trying to get our best players at every position across the board including on special teams, and he has an aptitude for it.”
Carlton Thomas, Logan Gray and Asher Allen are the other top candidates, said Richt, who would prefer to limit Allen to just kickoffs.

A player of Moreno's value
A player of Moreno's value can only do two things for the team: help win some more games and be even more famous or get himself injured and on the front page of sport magazines as the most unlucky player.

Can't wear a green jersey in game?
Why is he at any more risk returning punts than on any given play?
He has the hands, and as CMR says, the apptitude.
40 yards is 40 yards, whether on a return, or 5 yards at a time.
