It does not make Bobby Saxon happy when people assume that the GOP primary was Rep. Paul Broun’s real test.
Saxon, who’s been using my pessimistic blog posts to motivate volunteers, sent out a press release calling out the Wall Street Journal for making assumptions about the 10th District race.
“It looks like some political pundits need help remembering that Georgia’s election season doesn’t end in July.
“In a July 17 article of the Wall Street Journal called ‘Dr. Broun Goes Back to Washington,’ columnist John Fund writes, ‘Dr. Broun will be going back to Washington next year, having won 71% in last night's primary.’ There is no mention of Bobby Saxon or his November challenge against Congressman Broun.
“‘If Mr. Fund had done some research before he wrote this article, he’d have realized that I carried eight counties against both Representative Fleming AND Congressman Broun,’ said Saxon. ‘In five of those counties, I carried more votes than my two opponents put together. Last Tuesday, 18,000 Republicans showed they were disappointed enough by Congressman Broun’s performance to vote against their sitting incumbent. That’s not a small number, and definitely not one that the media should be ignoring in a democracy where every vote counts.’
“‘Folks still have nearly four months to make up their minds on their own. We don’t need the Washington establishment and big-shot political pundits pressuring people on how to vote, and we definitely don’t need a Wall Street Journal writer already declaring our next Congressman before anyone has a say.’
“‘I invite Mr. Fund to call me before he writes anymore articles about the 10th district of Georgia. We can discuss my desire to solve real problems in this district in a responsible and bipartisan way.’”
Back in Broun
Meanwhile, the Peoples’ Congressman is back in Washington, lambasting liberals over the usual hot topics like drilling for oil, gun control and a housing bailout.
Add Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to the list of things Broun believes are unconstitutional.
“The federal government messed up when it created Fannie Mae in 1938, and it messed up when it created Freddie Mac in 1970,” Broun said Monday in his weekly briefing to reporters.
“Congress must only do what Article 1, section 8 of the Constitution allows, and it only allows for a small government.
“Soon, the federal government will attempt to bail out these two companies with your money. I will stand against any bail-out plans because taxpayers should not be put on the hook for trillions of dollars because of an unconstitutional creation and a liberal quick-fix.”
Broun also continues to wage war with the D.C. city council, which recently passed a new gun law, since the Supreme Court struck down its handgun band last month. The new law requires gun owners to pass a test, obtain a permit and keep their guns unloaded and disassembled unless there is immediate danger.
“This new law is representative of the city government’s clear disregard for the Supreme Court and the U.S. Constitution,” Broun said. “The National Rifle Association has already signaled that it will challenge the new law, and I will support any effort to do so since this law represents a horrible infringement on our individual right to own firearms.”
In related news, the California legislature re-banned gay marriage and the ACLU announced that it will sue. Broun had this to say about it:
“This new law is representative of the state government’s clear disregard for the Supreme Court and the California Constitution. … The American Civil Liberties Union has already signaled that it will challenge the new law, and I will support any effort to do so since this law represents a horrible infringement on our individual right to marry whomever we want.”
OK, I made that last part up.

This race will
remind us of a NASCAR race where the leader has lapped the entire field. The commentators have to keep the race interesting.
The same thing goes for the democrat candidate who is trying to keep things interested with ridiculas analysis.
Here are a few facts:
Saxon out polled the Republican ticket in Clarke, Elbert, Franklin, hart, Lincoln and Wilkes.
Franklin and Elbert had contested democrat sheriffs races. I would guess that most of the candidates running in Lincoln and Wilkes had the same situation. Hart had several contested democrat races. There were actually more GOP votes in Clarke than I expected. Columbia republicans outpolled democrats 13000 to 1500.
Not a rosy picture for Saxon.
If Franklin County folks
If Franklin County folks will vote for a Democrat for sheriff, why not congressman?
Don't forget
Don't forget the folks in Clarke, Elbert, Greene, Hart, Lincoln, Madison, McDuffie, Oglethorpe, Rabun, Richmond, Stephens and Wilkes counties.
They want to have a say in
They want to have a say in local elections. The were 3 democrat sheriff candidates and no GOP. The sheriff will have nothing to do with national democrats.
will those 13,000 columbia
will those 13,000 columbia county folk vote for Broun? Or put Saxon in, figuring they can get it back to Augusta's candidate next round? Would they give Broun another coupla years incumbency?
No doubt Maj. Saxon's got an uphill road. But by November, Broun may have bought himself a lot of rope by then. Seems the Republican party's handing out enough rope to hang all of themselves this season.
Woah, woah, woah... hold up!
Woah, woah, woah... hold up! You mean to tell me that Paul Broun holds a weekly briefing with reporters? Does anyone go? Is Broun relevant enough to warrant a press briefing? (The guy is trying to wage war on Playboy for chrissake).
On another thing, I thought Broun was against the Supreme Court... or at least thats what it sounded like when he nearly called them unconstitutional.
This guy is either a moron, an imbecile, or a bigger flip-flopper than Barack Obama
He calls it a "briefing,"
He calls it a "briefing," but really it's just a big long weekly press release about why Democrats suck.

Broun likes govt. spending when it helps him
From Roll Call via The Politico:
"[S]ources tell Roll Call’s Jennifer Yachnin that PAUL BROUN has nearly depleted his annual allocation [for office management] already and may be forced to seek help to manage the day-to-day functions of his office.
"Broun spokeswoman Jessica Morris says the money has “not been depleted that I’m aware of,” but Boehner spokesman Michael Steel seems to contradict: “We’re aware of the situation, and are willing to offer whatever assistance we can.”
"Broun’s extravagance: More than $100,000 in mailings in the first quarter of the year."
The story's up on our Web site
And I'm working on running it down. Unfortunately, statements of disbursements of the House are very hard to come by.
Jacob Durden sighting!!!
http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/shared-blogs/ajc/politicalinsider/entri...
It seems we chased him all the way to Atlanta.
Don't listen to the voices
You think "JD" and "Eli" are the same person?
Interesting
They sound alike.
Schizophrenia ... that would explain a lot.
Maybe...
are you sure Jacob Durden isn't Herschel Walker?
